A Parable About Long Beach Politics

Once upon a time a man died. Upon shuffling off this mortal coil, he found himself in the depths of hell, being dragged by a hideous demon down an endless hall. Just as he felt sure he could go no further, the demon stopped and threw him to the ground. In front of him were two doors. The demon snarled, "You will spend your eternity suffering behind one of these two doors. Choose!" The man, not wanting to be hasty, paused for a moment. He noticed that, behind the door on the left, screams of agony, torment, and suffering rang out endlessly. On the other hand, from the other door only a soft gentle murmur could be barely discerned. Seeming the better option, the man chose the 2nd door. Instantly, and in a flash, he was standing on his tiptoes, up to his lower lip in stinking, vile human excrement. All around him were similar suffering souls, all whispering "Don't make waves... don't make waves."
